The Farmers National Bank of Emlenton donated $2,000 to Lifesteps through the 2014 Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program, an initiative of the PA Department of Community and Economic Development.

The EITC program enables businesses to receive tax credit when a donation is made to a qualified scholarship organization. Lifesteps is a registered and approved Pre-Kindergarten Scholarship Organization and qualifying 501 (c) (3). Lifesteps awards scholarships to children to assist them in attending pre-school.

“This gift supports the Bank’s mission to positively impact the communities in which we serve and live. We believe the support that Lifesteps provides local families is invaluable to enhance learning that will last a lifetime” noted William C. Marsh, Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Farmers National Bank of Emlenton.Lifesteps resized 600

Businesses eligible for the credit are ones who are authorized to do business in Pennsylvania and who are subject to one or more of the following taxes: Corporate Net Income Tax; Capital Stock Franchise Tax, Bank and Trust Company Shares Tax; Title Insurance Companies Shares Tax; Insurance Premiums Tax; Mutual Thrift Institution Tax; or Personal Income Tax of S corporation shareholders or Partnership partners. Call Julie Thumma, (724) 283-2154 x 310 or email to participate.

“Research shows that the benefits of high quality pre-kindergarten programs extend far beyond the child, impacting the entire community by reducing long-term costs for special education, public assistance, prisons and health care,” says Karen Sue Owens, President and Chief Executive Officer at Lifesteps.
