Emlenton, Pennsylvania, October 24, 2019 – Employees of The Farmers National Bank of Emlenton recently donated a total of $1,130 to local non-profit organizations with donations gathered through the Community Jeans Day program. The Grove City Food for Kids Backpack Program (Mercer County) and The Lighthouse Foundation (Butler County) were selected as donation recipients.
Community Jeans Day is an employee program that spans bank-wide and benefits local organizations within the Bank’s footprint. Employees of the Bank are encouraged to donate each month and in return, are permitted to wear jeans on Fridays. All money raised goes back into the community through gifting to local, non-profit organizations. Since the start of the program in late 2012, employees have raised over $43,000.
About Food for Kids: Founded in 2013, the Food for Kids Backpack Program provides food on the weekends to Grove City Area School District students. The purpose of the program is to ensure that no child goes hungry which results in better in-school performance and promotes an overall healthier life.
About The Lighthouse Foundation: Founded in 1985, The Lighthouse Foundation is a Christian outreach organization meeting the needs of impoverished individuals and families in northern Allegheny and Butler Counties.The Lighthouse Foundation operates the largest food pantry in Butler County. Each week the Lighthouse provides food for over 300 families through their food pantry. Families are able to get fresh produce, canned goods, meat, frozen food, and fresh bakery items.
